Bhubaneswar: A delegation of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) approached Thursday the chief electoral officer (CEO) here alleging violation of the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ by a local television channel.
The delegation, including party spokespersons Sasmit Patra and Sulochana Das, sought action against the channel—owned by a BJP leader.
The BJD —stated that the channel was using its reporters to ask voters queuing up at the polling booths certain questions that violated the code of conduct. “Those questions are aimed at influencing voters to vote for a ‘change’ as well as to vote against the BJD,” the complaint said.
The party has also submitted a pen drive containing the video clippings of the said violations along with the letter.
Fearing that the voters could get persuaded by the local channel and its reporters, the delegation demanded expeditious action in this regard.
