BJD nod to Sanatan’s nominee

Keonjhar: Sanatan Mahakud, the controversial legislator from Champua Assembly segment, ended speculation about his candidature from the seat. He expressed his inability to take part in active politics owing to poor health this time.
Hinting about his link with the BJD, he asserted that the BJD supremo had fielded the candidate he had recommended for the MP seat.
Talking to reporters here Thursday, Mahakud said,”Due to poor health, I was unable to carry forward the party. I had thought of fielding candidates in various seats, but health did not permit me. I had resigned from my party. The general secretary of the party is also not keeping well.”
Comparing the intensity of his interest in politics, the former MLA said like fish does not survive sans water, I can’t live without politics, he said, adding he has decided to pull the stings of politics from the bed.
He also said that the BJD has been doing good work for last 19 years. “But I have not joined the BJD. When the BJD supremo asked me to support him, I had nodded. I support the party’s MP nominee, but will not join the party,” he said.
If health improves, then he would consider electoral politics.

Mahakud accompanies Chandrani
BJD’s Lok Sabha nominee for the Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat, Chandrani Murmu filed her nomination papers at the Collectorate here Thursday, but the presence of Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud and his supporters in Murmu’s rally has left people surprised. BJD’s MLA candidate Madhab Sardar was also present at the nomination filing. However, presence of Sanatan Mahakud provided fuel to the rumour mills. It is said that his presence proved the candidate chosen by him was fielded by the BJD. Chadrani also asserted that blessings of Mahakud and that off the people of the district were with her. She thanked the BJD supremo for giving her the MP ticket.
