Bhubaneswar The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to extend its people connecting programme—Jana Sampark Padayatra till October 31.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the Padayatra, which was supposed to end October 11 on the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan. Now, the ruling party would continue the Padayatra till this month end.
Senior party leaders and local leaders have been instructed to reach people and inquire about their problems. They have also instructed to ensure the good work done by the government should reach the people.
The party’s membership drive is also going on simultaneously along with the Padayatra. Besides, Durga Puja also falls in between the programme. Therefore, the party extended the event, sources said.
