Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Thursday a 37-member panel headed by senior BJD legislator Bed Prakash Agarwal to prepare the party’s manifesto for the 2019 elections.
Patnaik said senior BJD leaders Prasanna Acharya, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Mangala Kisan, Padmanav Behera and Kasturi Mohapatra have been appointed as co-chairpersons of the panel. He said that manifesto should be prepared based on the opinions of the people that can be collected through BJD’s ‘Ghare Ghare Sankha’ (conch in every house) programme.
The BJD had launched the ‘Ghare Ghare Sankha; Matamata Dianti Apan, Palan Karanti Naveen’ (Conch in every house, you give your views, Naveen implements it’ on the 103rd birth anniversary of Biju Patnaik (March 5).
The office-bearers of Biju Mahila Janata Dal, the women wing of the BJD, along with others have been engaged to reach houses of almost all families of the state and take their views, the party said, Thursday.
The election manifesto of the party would be prepared on the basis of the views and proposals collected from the grassroot level and the BJD would be committed to implementing it, sources said.
The other important members of the committee are AU Singhdeo, Bhartruhari Mahtab, Achyut Samant, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Sanjay Dasburma, Arun Sahu, Sudam Marndi, Ramesh Majhi, Subash Singh, Nalini Pradhan, Naba Das and Rabi Nanda.
Some leaders of the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, Biju Yuva Janata Dal have also been included in the panel.
