Bhubaneswar: Protesting the alleged failure of the Centre in providing enough jobs to youths of Odisha, the youth and students’ wings of the ruling BJD Thursday continued their agitation in front of the offices of several Central PSUs in Bhubaneswar and Paradip
Raising slogans against the Modi government at the Centre, hundreds of agitating BJD members staged protests in front of many PSUs including Nalco, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and Rail Sadan in Bhubaneswar. The party activists also staged demonstrations before IOCL’s Paradip refinery plant.
Bhubaneswar-North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra said, “The BJP came to power on the promise of providing employment to two crore youths every year. Youths and students are protesting in front of the Central PSUs as it has failed to keep its promise.”
After coming to power at the Centre, Modi has forgotten his promises made to the youths of the country, he said, adding, “The Centre has cheated the youths of our country.”
The BJD also alleged that even though these PSUs are making huge profits in the state, Odia youths are denied jobs at these units.
Reacting to the allegations, BJP state general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said, “BJD is opposing the Central PSUs and the demonstrations in front of it show that the party is not interested in strengthening the economy of the state.”
The party is holding demonstrations only to hide the inefficiency of the BJD government in providing employment to youths, he alleged.
