BJD supports move to scrap Article 370

New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Monday extended its support to a resolution moved by Union home minister Amit Shah seeking scrapping of Article 370 of the constitution which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on behalf of the party in Rajya Sabha, BJD parliamentary party leader in the Upper House Prasanna Acharya supported the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, 2019 and thanked Union home minister for taking steps to scrap Article 370 to make Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of the country.

Any of those people who are shedding crocodile tears for Kashmir today, had they raised their voice during the exodus of Kashmiri pundits also. We are regional party but for us nation is first,” asked Acharya.

BJD chief whip in Rajya Sabha Sasmit Patra also appreciated the Union government for moving the resolution to scrap Article 370 and introducing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill.

The BJD leaders supported the scrapping of Article 370 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 in the Upper House. Both leaders also condemned ripping apart of Constitution by two Peoples Democratic Party MPs in the Rajya Sabha in protest against scrapping of Article 370.
