Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is planning to celebrate Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 74th birthday in a grand way. The party has decided to organise several blood donation camps across the state under its ‘Jeevan Bindu’ programme on the occasion which falls on October 16.
Chief coordinator of ‘Jeevan Bindu’ programme, Debasish Samantaray said blood donation programme will be conducted in 59 places including State BJD office and various blood banks. Efforts will be made to collect a record of over 10,000 units of blood on a single day, he said.
Around 3.08 lakh units of blood have been collected in last three years under the ‘Jeevan Bindu’ programme, which aims to fulfill the objective of Naveen to make blood accessible to all free of cost, the BJD leader said.
Party sources said, Naveen is also likely to launch party’s social service wing on that day to focus on environment, blood donation and health.
