Nabarangpur: Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) Prakash Chandra Majhi was declared winner in Jharigam Assembly seat in the tribal-dominated Nabarangpur district, Election Commission sources said.
Majhi defeated his close opponent—Congress’s Uldhar Majhi— by a margin of 31,444 votes.
Prakash got 77, 535 votes, while Uldhar Majhi polled 46,091. Similarly, BJP’s Parshuram Majhi polled 39, 837 votes.
Moreover, Independent candidate Sunita Banjara got 5,202 votes and 5,697 votes were cast to NOTA.
