Bhubaneswar: The BJP Wednesday lashed out at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for using the government logo on the BJD manifesto, and alleged that the Chief Minister has violated the model code of conduct.
Speaking to reporters, BJP state vice-president Samir Mohanty said the BJD manifesto bears the government logo and also mentions government websites.
The party said that this violated the poll code and indicates the involvement of government officials in framing it.
“These acts violate the model code of conduct, and as the manifesto carries the signature of the CM he is directly responsible for it. We’ve decided to approach the CEO’s office and will also file an FIR against the CM,” he said.
The party later approached the Kharavel Nagar police station to register an FIR regarding the matter.
The BJP also alleged a high-level of involvement by government bureaucrats in BJD affairs. It also took on the government over its failure to address the issue of women empowerment.
Mohanty said, “At a time when the CM is announcing doles for women, it has failed to ensure their welfare at large. Cases of atrocities against women have increased under BJD rule. The Kunduli and Pipli cases are examples of the Naveen government’s failure.”
The party also accused the BJD of preventing the state from getting the benefits of Ayushman Bharart and the National Food Security Scheme, and alleged that the BJD government has made many poor people suffer.
“Let the BJD government come forth on how many persons in Odisha actually got the assistance of Rs 5 lakh under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana or let them answer how many women from Odisha got the Rs 7 lakh assistance from the state,” Mohanty said.
