Angul: A 24-hour bandh call by Bharatiya Janata Party has thrown normal life out of gear at Khamar under Pallahara block in Angul district Saturday.
Movement of vehicular traffic was adversely affected as party activists were seen picketing at strategic points including a road blockade on NH-149.
The demands include immediate doctor appointment at Khamar community health centre and compensation to farmers who were affected by drought last year.
Local BJP members had been staging mass protest at Khamar bazaar for the last six days.
Adequate police force has been deployed to maintain law and order during bandh.
According to reports, only one doctor against the sanctioned post of eight is managing the CHC.
