Betanoti: With the Balasore Lok Sabha (LS) constituency going to polls in the last phase April 29, the BJP has gone into overdrive to strengthen its organisation in Betanoti and Badasahi blocks under the LS segment.
There are 45 panchayats and five zilla parishad (ZP) zones in this area. BJP functionaries claim that many people from other parties have joined the saffron camp in 24 gram panchayats of Betanoti.
“Every day people are joining the BJP. The party is getting consolidated,” said Subash Chandra Pradhan, the party in-charge in the constituency.
He said 186 members of the Shivaji Club in Baisinga joined the party April 11 and ‘mishran parbas’ are being regularly conducted in panchayats.
BJP workers said the party had formulated new strategies to strengthen its base in the constituency.
In Betanoti block the BJP had won three ZP zones in 2017 zilla parishad elections, and party functionaries are now confident that their candidates will win the LS and two Assembly seats under it.
