BJP cadre to gherao collectorate Jan 30

Balasore: Alleging that the state-sponsored KALIA has turned out to be a PC scheme, BJP has decided to gheraoh the Collectorate in Balasore Janunary 30.

Addressing a press meet here Thursday, BJP district unit president Madanmohan Datt observed that BJD has hatched a conspiracy to choose the KALIA beneficiaries on the basis of their party allegiance in order to score victory in the coming polls.

“KALIA has gone awry. Farmers are being taken for a ride by revising guidelines. Farmers are unable to sell their paddy at mandis while the state government has failed to ensure Rs 1750 MSP to them. Lakhs of sharecroppers will be deprived of availing KALIA benefits. Fights have broken out in villages over the scheme,” he said.

The BJP leaders said that BJD has been trying to suppress the voice of farmers by using its goons gang.

About 20 percent of farmers in Buanla panchayat belongs to ST, but their names are in the list of beneficiaries while farmers having 25 acres were enrolled under the scheme, Datt lamented.

Taking a jibe at the state government, the BJP leader said that the state government which has been ruling for the 19 years is shedding crocodile tears on the plight of farmers, he noted.

He pointed out that the government has acquired 1099 acres of land under Land Bank from 25000 poor farmers in 9 revenue villages, but many farmers have not been paid compensation.

The party has also decided to stage agitation outside all block offices and mandis from January 24 to February 1.
