BJP lawmaker’s daughter alleges father trying to kill her because she married a Dalit

Lucknow: BJP MLA Rajesh Misra’s daughter Sakshi (23) has alleged that her father is trying to kill her because she has married a Dalit and has requested the state police for security. Rajesh incidentally is the MLA from Bithari Chainpur in Bareilly district. Sakshi uploaded videos on social media Wednesday announcing her wedding to Ajitesh Kumar (29).

In the video Sakshi has asked her father to stay from them and allow them to live peacefully. She has also warned Rajesh to ‘stay off Ajitesh and his family’ or face the consequences. “I have married of my free will and my father has sent out his goons for us… I am tired of running, I seek police protection,” she says in the video where Kumar can be seen sitting next to her.  “If they catch us, they will definitely kill us,” she has stated.

Kumar then talks about the miscreants who are continuously following them. “We had a narrow escape this morning after a group people landed at the hotel we were staying in. Somehow we managed to escape.”  Kumar also said that Sakshi’s family was out to kill them for ‘honour’ as he was from a Dalit family.

In another video, Sakshi has said that her father, brother and an associate are trying to eliminate them. She has urged the SSP of Bareilly to give them security. Sakshi has also appealed to the MPs and MLAs of Bareilly to not help Rajesh as she alleged that her father and others were out to kill her.

The BJP leader could not be reached for comments nor were top party officials willing to talk on the issue.

DIG RK Pandey said he had come to know of the video messages and had asked the SSP to extend security to the couple. The DIG said the police do not know where to give her security as she had not disclosed her location.
