BJP leader Golak Mohapatra’s lawyer deposes before cops

Bhubaneswar : The lawyer of yet another BJP leader, Golak Mohapatra summoned by the Commissionerate Police Saturday deposed before Kharavela Nagar Police station in connection with the exhibition of fake intelligence report at a presser Monday. The lawyer also submitted a written statement to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Bishnu Prasad Patra in the presence of the IIC of Kharavela nagar Police station, Biswaranjan Senapati.

Notably, three saffron party leaders, Samir Mohanty, State BJP vice-president, state spokesperson Golak Mohapatra and BJP Yuva Morcha chief, Tankadhar Tripathy were summoned by the Commissionerate Police to depose before it March 21.  The leaders were asked to present before Kharavela Nagar Police station where a case has been registered over the fake intelligence report for the record of their statement under section 91 of CrPC.

Earlier, a written statement was submitted by Samir Mohanty Thursday while Tripathy has been asked to present Sunday.

The saffron party leaders exhibited a fake intelligence report during a presser at party head quarters here Monday. The report was later found to be a fabricated one which the party claimed of fetching that from social media. Subsequently, a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint lodged by the Special branch SP, Kartikeswar Samal.  The report shown at the presser allegedly recommended Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to contest simultaneously from other constituencies like, Bijepur, Rourkela and Bolangir or Titlagarh as his poll prospects are not conducive at Hinjli.

Police sources said that the future course of action will be taken after the examination of the document shown by the saffron party at the presser and the statements of the leaders summoned.
