Chhendipada/Bantala: A BJP activist was hacked to death late Sunday at Antulia under Purunakote police limits of Angul district.
The deceased, identified as Jagabandhu Behera, 60, was a ward member of Antulia panchayat and president of Adivasi-Harijan Morcha of BJP’s Satkosia Mandal.
Accused Sadananda Garnaik, 50, has fled the village.
Police registered it as fallout of a land dispute and sent the body for post-mortem.
IIC Bikram Bihari Jaypuria said Behera was loitering at the village square when Garnaik is reported to have attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. Behera died instantaneously.
