Lucknow: A block level BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district has been accused of threatening a family with dire consequences after being blamed for parking his car in a manner which did not allow an ambulance to pass for more than 30 minutes. It has been accused that the BJP leader identified as Umesh Mishra left his unattended car on the road and the patient in the ambulance who had suffered a heart attack, subsequently died as he could not reach the hospital in time.
The entire incident, which happened Saturday, came to the fore after a video of Umesh Mishra threatening the deceased’s family went viral on the social media.
As per a report in ‘NDTV’ the patient, Suresh Chandra, had complained of chest pain Saturday after which he was immediately referred to a hospital in Lucknow. Chandra and some of his family members left the district hospital in an ambulance accompanied by a doctor.
En route to the hospital in Lucknow, the ambulance was forced to stop at a place where the BJP leader had parked his car illegally. Without a driver, the car remained on the road, blocking it for the ambulance as the patient writhing in pain breathed his last.
Instead of showing any remorse, the BJP leader when he returned to the car, started hurling abuses at the relatives of the deceased. The relatives of Chandra blamed Mishra for the former’s death.
A video recorded by bystanders showed Umesh Mishra, who claimed to be the brother of BJP leader and block chief Ramkinkar Pandey, abusing the brother-in-law of the man who died. Mishra allegedly threatened to get him ‘framed’ in police cases. The BJP leader also said the district magistrate and the SP worked at his instructions, and he would ‘finish him’.
It should also be stated here that a number of policemen were present at the spot when Mishra was abusing the deceased’s brother in law. However, no one intervened or no one asked Mishra as to why he had illegally parked his car and left it unattended. A few minutes after abusing the family members of the deceased, Mishra left in his car.
