Hatadihi: Even as electioneering heated up across the state for the forthcoming polls, political heavyweights like Congress veteran Jaydev Jena and present BJD MLA Mayadhar Jena have been carrying out hectic parleys with their supporters in Anandapur Assembly segment in Keonjhar.
The seat is going to see a three-cornered contest. Meanwhile, the BJP’s Bhagirathi Sethi and his supporters have intensified their campaign at the grassroots level while Jaydev along with his workers have stepped up his organizational work through ‘Mo Booth Mo Gourab’ programme.
Though the Congress has not yet announced the names of its nominees, party workers say his name is almost final. But the BJD has not yet declared the names of its candidate.
The BJD leaders were seen approaching people and highlighting the scores of welfare schemes and programmes of the BJD government.
It is said that the BJD is planning to change its leaders this time. Apart from Mayadhar Jena, other BJD aspirants are Arati Singh, Bimala Jena, Sabitri Sethi, Kalpataru Sethi, Suresh Jena, Sharat Sethi, Prananath Jena, Aparti Jena, Pratap Sethi and Narayan Jena.
Political analysts asserted that BJP nominee Bhagirathi Sethi was expected to give a tough fight to the Congress veteran.
Sethi is said to be trying to cash in on the infighting in the BJD which is likely to face a harrowing time in the forthcoming polls.
It is said that popularity of Sethi is growing while many frontline BJD leaders have been openly supporting the BJP nominee.
