Bhubaneswar: Demanding employment for youths of the State, youth wing of State BJP Wednesday said it will gherao Assembly here February 7.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state president Tankadhar Tripathy alleged that the State government has failed to provide employment to the youths and has also been obstructing Centre’s initiatives in this regard.
“The unemployment is on the rise in the State in the 19-year tenure of BJD government. The State has collected lakhs of rupees in the name of organizing job fairs. While the chief minister boasts of development in the State, youths are migrating to others States in search of jobs,” Tripathy told reporters. When the Central Government planned for NTPC expansion, development of coastal highway and oil reservoir, the state government acts as a hindrance, he alleged.
“While employment opportunities for the youth could be created after infrastructural development, the State Government is deliberately blocking these projects,” the BJP leader alleged.
In protest, lakhs of Odia youths will gherao the Assembly and surrender their degrees February 7, he added.
Reacting on this issue, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, “Such a demonstration proposed to be staged by the BJP youth wing is ridiculous. In its election manifesto for 2014 polls, the BJP had promised to provide employment to two crore youths every year in the country if they come to power. What happened to that?”
The state government has provided skill development training to 9 lakh youths and the BJD has been awarded by the Centre also, he stated.
