Bhubaneswar: Accusing the Naveen Patnaik government in Odisha of hijacking the central schemes and naming them as state schemes, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday decided to create an awareness campaign across the state against the ruling BJD .
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting attended by union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, BJP national joint General Secretary Soudan Singh and senior state leaders of the party here.
Briefing the newsmen after the meeting, party’s senior leader Pratap Sharanghi said the party activists will launch a movement from the village to the town till the ineffective and corrupt government is dislodged in the state.
Sharanghi slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for building his self image by giving false promises to the people of Odisha spending huge money from the state exchequer on advertisements.
The meeting, the BJP leader said, has decided to fight against the state government’s anti-poor policy and provide electricity to 40 lakh people under the Sobhagya Yojana.
The BJP leader came down heavily on the Chief Minister for taking the credit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the name of Biju Abas Yojana and misappropriating all the central welfare schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said it was highly unfortunate on the part of the ruling BJD in the state to condemn the Ujjwala Yojana which has given a new lease of life to crores of women across the country for a better environment and is being appreciated both in the country and abroad.
Sharanghi said the development of the state would be possible only when the present government is dislodged.
The BJP, he said, would organise a massive public movement against the BJD for hijacking the central sponsored scheme and misappropriating huge money allotted under various central schemes.
