Bhubaneswar: BJP workers took to the streets in the state Capital Tuesday to protest over the poor condition of roads in certain localities and the lack of a proper drainage system. Frequent waterlogging is observed in many parts of the city after short spells of rain.

Hundreds of BJP worker organised a ‘Padayatra’ on the stretch from Jaydev Vihar Square leading to a prominent hotel. They burnt tyres and shouted slogans demanding immediate repairing of the drainage system. They blamed the municipal corporation officials for the lackadaisical attitude.

“Despite the fact that Bhubaneswar has been tagged as the country’s ‘Smartest City’, the state of the roads here reveals a different picture. People are afraid to leave their homes because of the deteriorating road conditions, and commuters face a variety of issues while travelling. Numerous complaints have been filed. However, neither the BMC or the Odisha government has done anything to improve the situation,” stated local BJP leader Babu Singh.
