BJP Yuva Morcha flays govt on second bridge over Brahmani

Rourkela: Even as the second bridge across river Brahmani has become a bone of contention in Rourkela, Panposh BJP Yuva Morcha organisational district Tuesday blamed the state government for its callousness towards the project.

It also took a dig at MLA Dillip Ray, who has recently resigned from BJP over the bridge issue. The BJB Yuba Morcha said Ray has been shedding crocodile tears for his own political benefits over the issue.

Addressing reporters at the party office in Sector 3, president of the unit Ankush Burma said the state government has not been cooperating in the bridge construction. “At the behest of the BJD, the district administration has not been actively supporting the land acquisition process for the project,” he said.

Referring to two pending projects, Burma said, “Five years ago, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid foundation stone for a barrage on river Koel and a medical college at Kuanrmunda, but those projects have been forgotten by the Steel City residents.”

He added that neither the state government nor Ray had taken up the issues with the public.

On the occasion, Yuva Morcha announced names of new office-bearers. Anup Agrawal, Gourab Bansal, Jagpal Tanwar and Rajendra Goud were elected as vice presidents while Sushant Biswal and Sonu Kansara were nominated general secretaries. Pintu Nahak, Sanjib Maiti, Anil Gurung, Ranjan Mohanty, Prashant Tarai and Kishore Bhukta were nominated secretaries.
