Jeypore: Normal life was paralysed in this town of Koraput district Thursday following an eight-hour bandh called by BJP over fulfillment of a four-point charter of demand which includes Notified Area Council (NAC) status for Borigumma and full-fledged function of Jeypore hospital, which has recently been accorded the status of district headquarters hospital.
While the vehicular movement came to a grinding halt during the bandh which started at 6 am and will continue till 2 pm, educational institutions and business establishments downed their shutters.
The impact of bandh was also felt in Borigumma town where the party activists staged road blockades by burning tyres and resorted to picketing.
Apart from NAC status for Borigumma and full-fledged function of Jeypore hospital, exclusion of the ‘non-transferable’ status tag from the land records of a number of residents in Jeypore assembly constituency and CBI probe into the alleged fake ‘land patta’ distribution by the state government in the area are the other demands of the party.
