BJYM cries recruitment scam at SCB

Cuttack: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of BJP, Saturday approached the District Collector alleging irregularity in appointment of attendants at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here.

In its memorandum, the BJYM team led by its state coordinator Debasis Ray, informed the Collector that SCB has been functioning with 480 attendants out of the sanctioned capacity of 1,273.

In order to address the manpower crunch, a private agency was vested with the responsibility of engaging 150 attendants through a tender in 2011-12. The engagement was for a three-year term which should have been extended only through proper tender. However, the same agency has been continuing the service for eight years now without any tender, the memorandum reads.

“It was in 2018 when a tender was floated for engagement of 294 attendants at SCB. Although six agencies participated in the tender process, the authorities worked hand-in-glove with the same agency and awarded the contract to it once again,” the memorandum said.

The private agency has been fleecing gullible job seekers by collecting Rs 30,000-50,000 from each of them, Ray said, urging the Collector to take stringent action against the concerned authorities and direct for another round of tender.

The saffron party’s youth wing warned to explore legal ways if the Collector fails to ensure action against the wrongdoer(s).

Senior BJP leaders, including Suneli Dwivedi, Biswaranjan Mishra, Lalatendu Badu and Sanjiv Chinnera, were present.
