Black flags shown to health minister

Jharsuguda: Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was caught off guard after some Youth Congress workers showed him black flags on Gumadera main road in this district, Thursday.

Das was on his way to attend a programme of Belpahar civic body when the incident occurred.

The Youth Congress workers shouted slogans like ‘go back’ and ‘murdabad’ against the health minister to highlight the poor healthcare facilities in the area.

Youth Congress worker Tahir Khan said the reason behind their demonstration is the negligence of the government towards health services in the region.

He alleged that the state government has upgraded a government health centre at Belpahar into an urban PHC but it lacks adequate number of doctors and health workers.

In this situation, patients visiting the centre are being shifted to other hospitals and healthcare facilities, he said.

He warned that the Youth Congress workers will take to the streets in coming days if the situation does not improve.
