BMC lodges police complaint against Sonu Sood; here’s why

Sonu Sood moves SC challenging BMC notice for illegal construction

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Thursday filed a police complaint against actor Sonu Sood on charges of allegedly converting a six-storey residential building into a hotel.

The BMC alleges that the actor has not taken necessary permissions to convert the building. The BMC has said that action will be taken against Sood under the Maharashtra Region and Town Planning (MRTP) Act.

The BMC has accused the actor of increasing the portion of the building. The BMC said in its complaint, “It has been found that Sonu Sood himself has made changes in the use of the land. Apart from this, the residential building has been converted into a residential hotel building by making additional construction beyond the approve plan.”

It was reported that the BMC asked the Juhu police to take cognisance of the offence.

Notably, Sood became a messiah for millions during the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sood helped migrant workers reach their hometowns amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He also helped people by giving them face shields, food, mobile phones and more.

On professional front, he will soon be seen in the film Kisaan. The film will be directed by E Niwas and will be produced by Raaj Shaandilyaa.
