Bhubaneswar: For conducting offline classes violating COVID-19 guidelines of the state government, a school in this capital city was sealed Tuesday.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed Sai Saraswati Vidya Mandir school located at Chintamaniswar in the city for conducting offline classes.
According to the December guidelines of the state government, all education institutions excluding medical colleges will remain shut till December end.
Violating this, Sai Saraswati Vidya Mandir authorities were holding offline classes. On being informed, BMC’s South-East Zone Enforcement Team visited the school and found the allegation to be true. Then they sealed the educational institution.
It was also found out that the school was conducting offline examinations in the school.
Notably, the School and Mass Education Department had issued a notification November 6 informing that all the educational institutions will remain closed till December end. And during this period, activities like conduct of examinations (academic competitive and entrance tests), evaluation and other administrative activities, online distance learning will continue.
Similarly, teaching and non-teaching staff may be called to the schools for online teaching/ tele-counselling and related work, in areas outside the Containment Zones as per standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by the Ministry of Education Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW), Gol.
It is worth mentioning that all the educational institutions in the state have been closed since mid-March following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
