Bhubaneswar, June 2: The body of an engineer of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation was found inside a car near the Janla outpost under suspicious circumstances late Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Manoj Mishra, assistant Executive Engineer.
According to sources, Mishra left his residence at Patia for inspection of some work going on at Nayapalli at midnight. Later, at around 1 am, he reportedly received a call from his home and soon left the work site. While leaving the site, he informed his colleagues that he was going home. However, later, his body was found inside the car on the national highway 16. Several injury marks were found on his body. He was rushed to capital hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The family members of Mishra alleged that he was murdered. His son Abhijit Mishra has lodged complaint with the Jatani police station in this regard.
On the other hand, the Jatani police claimed that an unknown vehicle had hit his car which might be the cause behind his death. The car bore marks of possible collision in the side, police said.
Anant Narayan Jena, the Mayor of BMC, met the family of deceased at the capital hospital.
