Body of 13-year-old Bol Bom devotee who went missing in Subarnarekha River recovered

Balasore: Body of Subham Rana, who went missing while taking a dip in Subarnarekha River on occasion of first Monday of holy Shravan month, was recovered from a river ghat at Manunagar under Bhograi block in Balasore district Tuesday.

According to a source, Subham, a Class VIII student and son of Purnachandra Rana from Dharmadwar village had gone to take a dip at Siadi ghat on Subarnarekha River Monday along with ten of his friends.

While bathing, Subham’s feet slipped and he went missing. His friends launched a search for him in the river. After not finding him, they informed the villagers and the villagers informed the fire services department.

After a joint search and rescue operation by villagers and fire services personnels were unable to trace him, an ODRAF team was roped in, but the operation had to be stopped owing to darkness.

Tuesday morning, the villagers fished out the body from the river at Manunagar. They immediately informed Kamarda police station. Later, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. A pall of gloom descended the village as the news broke.
