Keonjhar: The naked body of a minor girl was recovered Saturday by Keonjhar Sadar police from Haladiaguan village in the district.
The identity of the minor has not been ascertained yet. The girl had gone to witness a musical programme being held in nearby locality on the occasion of Laxmi Puja October 20. The girl did not return home and went missing, a senior official in the Sadar police station stated.
Family members of the deceased carried out a frantic search at all locations, but in vain. Later, an FIR was lodged by the family at local police station stating that the girl had gone missing.
According to an eyewitness, the minor’s body was found by locals in the backyard of an isolated house located at the end of Haladiaguan village in the morning. Later, police were informed.
Sadar police immediately reached the village and recovered the body. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe. The minor’s body was sent to hospital for post-mortem.
Prima facie evidence suggests that it is a case of murder. However, a post-mortem report would help to proceed further in investigation and nab the person involved in the death of the minor, the official said.
In another incident Saturday, a man allegedly thrashed his wife to death at Parjanpur village in Keonjhar district. The accused man was identified as Sukra Munda and the deceased as Soubhagini.
An altercation erupted between Sukra and his wife Friday night. Things took an ugly turn and the husband severely beat the woman. As a result of which she became unconscious and succumbed.
