Khaprakhol: Police Monday recovered a mutilated body of a youth from underneath a bridge at Bharuamunda in Nuapada district. Preliminary investigations have revealed the identity of the victim as Raidhar Bisi, 23, son of Sukru Bisi of the village.
The matter came to light after locals on their way to freshen up spotted the body in a pool of blood and alerted the cops. A police team along with scientific team reached the spot and seized the body and sent it for autopsy.
A case was registered and sniffer dogs were pressed into service for the examination.
The body bore serious injuries. Preliminary probe revealed Bisi was bludgeoned to death with a stone.
Lathor IIC Satyanand Patra, Khaprakhol IIC Jyotiranjan Pati and Patnagarh SDPO Seshdev Bariha who met the villagers and enquired into all angles of the case.
Suspecting it to be the fallout of previous enmity, police detained four youths in this connection, IIC Patra said.
According to police, Bisi was unmarried and earned a living by working as a migrant worker in the neighbouring states. He had come to the village for holidays.
He had gone out of the house and did not return till late in the evening. Family members suspected, he might have gone to some friends and did not look for him. Since he was the sole breadwinner of the family, his death has unnerved the entire family.
“My son had no enmity with anyone. He had recently returned home for holidays,” his mother said.
Locals suspected the miscreants might have killed Bisi elsewhere before dumping his body under the bridge. The incident spread tension in the village as angry residents demanded immediate arrest of the accused and stringent action against them.
