Bolangir: Normal life was severely hit due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh call given by Paschim Odisha Mahila Sangathan in Bolangir town demanding CBI probe into the sensational Snehalata Chhatria rape and murder case, Thursday.

All vehicles stayed off the roads, all government offices and business establishments remained closed during the bandh period. Meanwhile, the much-hyped Snehalata Chhatria rape and murder case at Sargipali village under Khaprakhol block in the district completed eight years, Monday.

The agitators also gave the bandh call over Nirupama Nanda and Mamita Meher murder cases. The protesters led by the outfit’s president Sabita Nanda, advisors Lily Patel, Nutan Das, Lalita Deep alleged that eight years have passed after the rape and murder of Snehalata Chhatria but police are yet to nab the culprits.

The state Crime Branch, which took up the probe later, is yet to submit its chargesheet in the court. Locals have been demanding for CBI probe into the case but their pleas are yet to be addressed.
