Bolangir: A special squad of Sadar police Thursday here nabbed two most wanted criminals after struggling to arrest them for nearly four months.
The accused identified as Sripati Singh (31) and Pinku Karan (33) were produced in court. The two were on the most wanted list of the district police.
Police launched a manhunt to nab them after their names figured in a firing case near a highway dhaba on Bolangir-Titilagarh road. Prime accused Bablu Mahananda is still absconding. The two were accused of operating an illegal gambling den, dacoity and loot. The two were members of a gang and had unleashed a reign of terror in Bolangir town and areas on its outskirts.
The incident occurred when some anti-socials had assembled near the dhaba, August 29, last year. A fight broke out between them. That led to an altercation when Mahananda picked up a revolver and fired four rounds.
The bullets hit Dillip Patnaik of Rameshwar Nagar. Patnaik was first rushed to Bolangir hospital and later shifted to VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR). Later, Mahananda, Singh, Karan and Dliip Bhoi went absconding.
