Bolangir woman kills toddler by slitting throat

Bolangir: In a chilling incident, a woman allegedly killed her 6-month-old son by slitting his throat at Khaliapali village under Puintala police limits in Bolangir district Friday morning.

The accused woman has been identified as Meena Nag (38), wife of Rabindra Nag of Khaliapali village.

According to reports, Meena slit her infant’s throat at home Friday morning for unknown reasons. The accused woman has gone missing after committing the crime. When the family members found the baby in a pool of blood, they immediately rushed him to Tarabha hospital. Later, the baby was shifted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

On receiving information, the Puintala police started an investigation into the incident.

A preliminary probe suggests that the woman is mentally unstable.
