Bomb attack on BJD member’s house

Khurda: Panic gripped residents of Gurujanga village under Sadar police limits in Khurda district after unidentified miscreants hurled bomb at the house of Prakash Routray in Ward No. 18.

Prakash Routray is the block president. Reports suggested the miscreants hurled two bombs at the house of Routray before fleeing on a motorbike. However, there was no report of any injury.

Sources said the miscreants fled the spot after committing the crime. Police reached the spot and carried out investigation into the incident. Though the identities of the accused are yet to be known, police are examining the CCTV footage to establish the identity of the miscreants.

The police team seized few explosive items near the house and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants. The first bomb attack was at around 2:30 at night. While, Prakash woke up and went to open the door after hearing the noise, the miscreants hurled another bomb and fled.

Prakash accused that the miscreants also tried to open fire at him, but he escaped. Primary investigation revealed that the incident took place over past-enmity.

We are investigating the incident from all angles and will arrest the miscreants soon, police said.
