Boudh: Additional District Magistrate Ramakanta Sethi, 55, died Monday after the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree near Karadakotha on the Khurda-Bolangir National Highway, Monday.
Sources said, Ramakanta Sethi was returning from Bhubaneswar to this place in his government vehicle Monday morning. Near Karadakotha, the driver lost his control of the car, which skidded off the roads and crashed into a tree.
Locals immediately rescued Sethi, who was sitting at the rear of the car and rushed him to Boudh district headquarters hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment there. The driver who was also injured is in a critical condition at the same hospital.
As his demise news broke, a pall of gloom descended on entire district.
Police investigation is on to find out the cause of the accident, it was learnt.
