Champua: Commuting problem, which used to be a perennial one in riparian villages along the Baitarani in Rangamatia block in Keonjhar, will be over soon. The rural development department has decided to set up a bridge across the river soon.
The bridge was a long pending demand of the locals, who have been facing a lot of commuting problems.
The bridge will facilitate communication between Keonjhar and some areas of Mayurbhanj district. Currently, people commute on a temporary bamboo bridge.
The river is on the borders of the districts. People of bordering villages in Mayurbhanj take a roundabout way of 35 km to reach Champua.
The bridge, to be built at a cost of Rs 15 lakh under the Biju Setu Yojana, will drastically reduce the distance between the two districts.
