BHUBANESWAR: The 13th Toshali National Crafts fair has witnessed huge footfall since its inauguration day. The potpourri of crafts and food stalls seem to have made an impression on denizens of the Capital.
Orissa Post interacted with buyers, sellers and officials at the event to delve deeper into the subject.
Many people seemed to hover around a weaver Trinath Sahu to understand the intricacies of Sambalpuri cotton saree weaving. “I am truly amazed by the questions being asked by the visitors. Customers have been making videos and uploading it on their Facebook and Instagram accounts.”
Kids too seemed to be having a good time at the fair. 6-year-old Tanmayeeshree boated around a small artificial pool and revelled in other intuitive games as well. Rabi Achraya, a supervisior of the fair said, “Overall the fair is quite diverse and has something to offer for everyone.”
Although stalls of almost every state features at the fair, its the traditional stalls of Odia garments, food, handicrafts, home decors that are attracting buyers from far and wide.
Nam Chin Woo, a visitor from Vietnam, bought two dozen Pipili appliqué work. He stated that these handicraft creations can be excellent New Year giveaways. The fair boasts at least 30 food stalls that were selling traditional cuisines. Due to the chilly weather, many hovered around Irani Chai and Tandoori chai counters.
