Udala: A British era building originally meant for the residential purpose of a sub-collector has been lying in a shambles for years now, reports said. With cracked walls and pillars, the building is unsafe and requires urgent restoration.
A portion of the roof of the building collapsed Thursday night, further deteriorating it. Around 80 per cent of the roof has caved in. Many furniture including two almirahs and tables were damaged in the mishap.
However there were no casualties reported as Udala Sub Collector Bhagaban Behera was on an official tour to Baripada for two days. His family members were also away during these two days.
After returning from the tour Friday morning, he opened the door to find the roof of his bedroom collapsed and some of his valuables and furniture damaged.
Behera said the house would be declared unsafe very soon until the renovation work is completed. He said he has informed to his higher authorities about the incident.
