Aul: Aul police in Kendrapara district seized over seven grams of brown sugar worth about Rs 2 lakh in grey markets from a scooty dickey and arrested a person in this connection Wednesday night.
The latest incident of brown sugar seizure has been a matter of discussion in the district.
According to a source, a team led by Aul police station sub-inspector was carrying out a routine checking near Patrapur bridge Wednesday night. While the checking was underway, Ramakant Das of Dakhinadihha village under Pattamundai police limits riding a scooty was coming towards Aul.
Seeing the police, Ramakant tried to change his direction. This led to the police suspecting something wrong. They swung into action and nabbed Ramakant. Following a search, the contraband was recovered from his scooty. The police arrested him and seized the two-wheeler.
A detailed investigation is underway.
