Jaleswar: In a major haul, police Tuesday seized 269 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 27 lakh and arrested a drug peddler during a raid. Giving this information at a press meet here, SP Sagarika Natha stated that efforts are on to nab others involved in illegal trade of narcotics. Also present at the press meet were SDPO Dillip Kumar Sahu and IIC Shiba Prasad Bhadra.
The breakthrough came during a raid at the house of an alleged drug peddler at Patharpura village in Malgodown locality under Jaleswar civic body limits in Balasore district. According to an official communique, acting on a tip-off, a team of Jaleswar police conducted the raid.
Other than the contraband, police also seized cash worth Rs 27,000, a mobile phone, a bank passbook and five PAN cards from the possession of the accused.
