Bhubaneswar: Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha Wednesday announced some major changes in the Class-X examination pattern in the state.
BSE Odisha President Ramasish Hazra said that for the last two years, two summative examinations were conducted for the Class-X students such as Summative Assessment-I and Summative Assessment-II. From now the Class-X examination will be conducted once a year.
Hazra further informed that the internal assessment for high school and Madhyama students would continue as before and would be completed over the course of four quarters in an academic session.
The BSE has also decided to implement a half-yearly examination at the school level, and the board will supply the question papers for the examination.
BSE will not directly conduct the examination for Class-IX students. The board will only disburse the question papers to the district education officers in this regard.
“We have not completely changed the pattern as internal assessment will continue and we have added the aspirational component. Through this the students will be engaged throughout the year,” a BSE official said.
The official further claimed that the burden on students will reduce due to the conduction of the examination annually.
Besides, the form fillup for the supplementary examinations for this year will begin May 26 and end June 2, 2023.
The supplementary examinations for students who were unable to clear this year’s board examinations will be conducted from July 3 to July 8, 2023.
