BSE matric exam begins amid tight security

Bhubaneswar: Amidst tight security, the annual matriculation examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) began across the state, Friday.

The exam commenced at 10.00 am. This year, 5,72,699 students are appearing in the examination at 2,830 centres. A three-tier security system has been put in place to avoid any kind of malpractice and ensure the smooth conduct of the exam.

The administration has also clamped Section 144 at some sensitive centres.

Notably, 304 nodal centres have been set up across the State for the BSE Matric examination. The authorities have formed 693 dispatch teams to transfer the question papers from nodal centres to the examination venues. The question papers reached all the centres in the morning.

A special team under the supervision of collectors, 58 district-level squads and 44 BSE squads have been formed to curb malpractices during the exam. The collectors and SPs have been instructed to ensure smooth conduct of the exam across the state.

The students were allowed to enter the examination centres at 9 am Friday. However, the entry timing at the centres would be 9.15am from the second day onwards, BSE officials informed.

The OMR sheets were distributed at 9.30 am while the booklets were given at 9.45 am. The examination started at 10 am and is scheduled to conclude at 12.30 pm.

The Board has said that the candidates will be allotted an additional 15 minutes during Mathematics examination.

This year, there will be four parallel sets of questions papers for objective and subjective questions. The students will have to score at least 15 marks each in both the sets to pass in a subject, reports added.

Besides, the BSE has also prohibited anyone to carry mobile phones to the examination centres to ensure that question papers cannot be leaked through social media.
