BSF jawan injured in landmine blast

Malkangiri: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured in a landmine blast allegedly orchestrated by Maoists near Saptadhara under Khairaput block in this district, Monday.

The injured jawan has been identified as Jagtar Singh. He was immediately rushed to Saheed Laxman Naik (SLN) Medical College and Hospital in Koraput. His condition is stated to be critical.

Sources said that the jawans were conducting a combing operation in the area when Jagtar stepped on to the concealed landmine. In the ensuing blast, Jagtar suffered serious injuries.

After the incident, combing operation has been intensified in the area, sources added.
