Malkangiri: A BSF jawan has turned saviour for a woman, suffering from hemoglobin deficiency, at MV-30 in Malkangiri district.
According to sources, Chandrama Gadaba, a resident of Lathiaguda under Malkangiri block, was suffering from anaemia and admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) Thursday.
Doctors at the DHH tested the woman’s blood and found that she was suffering from acute haemoglobin deficiency. The doctors then asked the woman’s family to arrange AB Positive blood immediately as it was not available at the hospital. But the patient’s kin could not find a donor and got panicked.
Chandrama’s family contacted the hospital’s blood bank to meet the requirement but in vain.
Later, the family contacted the BSF’s office at MV-30, following which commandant Tirtha Acharya sent a jawan to donate blood.
Immediately, the jawan swung into action to save the life of the patient. He first talked to the relatives of some other patients and managed to get three units of blood. The jawan himself came forward to donate another unit of blood to meet the requirement.
The condition of the woman is stated to be better now. She is under observance at the DHH.
The incident made the jawan a hero of sorts as locals heaped praise on him. “I get immense pleasure when a patient gets cured with my care,” the jawan said.
