Malkangiri: In a major success against Maoists in Swabhiman area of Malakngiri district, the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans Saturday night recovered a powerful landmine hidden near Pipalpadar area in the district.
Acting on tip-off, the BSF jawans launched a combing operation from Pipalpadar to Nakamamudi in Swabhiman area and unearthed the powerful landmine.
Later, a bomb disposal squad reached the spot and defused the landmine averting a possible mishap.
The jawans suspected that the Maoists were targeting the security forces for which they had planted the powerful landmine.
Earlier October 20, the BSF jawans and the police personnel had seized materials include 18 pieces of slurry and emulsion explosives, 500 pieces of gelatin, three camera flashes and 1,200 grams splinters from this area. They had also seized seven explosives including tiffin bombs.
