Bhubaneswar: CGM of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Odisha Satyananda Naik Monday announced that the telecom operator will provide 4G service in the state within three months.
At a press conference held here Monday, Naik said: “We had recommended to the ministry that spectrum be provided for 4G services in Odisha; but it had not been possible owing to financial issues. However, the ministry has finally approved provision of 4G spectrum and initially it will be launched in rural areas.”
Naik said BSNL has already started 4G services in many rural areas of Kerala and Karnataka.
Besides, for the first time in India, BSNL has launched internet telephony service app ‘Wings’ through which a caller can receive and make calls without a SIM card.
“With the help of NGT Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), the app users can make and receive call to any network in India. For this service, the users don’t need to have a SIM, but they require Wi-Fi facility or internet service. In fact, BSNL is providing free Wi-Fi in most rural and urban areas, Naik said.
The application can be installed on mobile phones or laptops or computers. The service will allow customers to make unlimited calls by paying annual fee of Rs 1,099 and by using internet service.
The state-owned telecommunications company has been coming up with various offers for its customers. It also launched four Landline broadband combo services Monday.
“Landline users can recharge Rs 99 and can enjoy internet service 1.5 GB per day for a month at up to 20 mbps download speed. Similarly, the users will get data of 5GB/day, 10GB/day and 20 GB/day with the recharge of Rs 199, Rs 299 and Rs 491 respectively. The download speed will be the same. Also, the users will get unlimited free calls to any networks in India,” the CGM said.
BSNL also launched BBG combo ULD 1199 family broadband plan. This plan also comes with three prepaid BSNL mobile connections. Each of these mobile connections will be bundled with unlimited free calling, both local and STD to any network within India.
In addition to the voice benefits, these three mobile connections will also get unlimited data usage with 1GB per day limit. After you reach the data limit of the day, speed will be reduced to 40 kbps. For one of the three mobile connections, the users would also get BSNL’s online TV access. Also, the plan provides one-month free subscription to online education service for students up to class XII.
