New Delhi: Highlighting the performances of the BJP-led NDA Government, acting Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said that India has achieved over 98 per cent rural sanitation coverage. He also said that farmers are to be provided with Rs 6,000 per year in three installments, to be fully funded by the central government. He also said that about 5.4 lakh villages have been made open defecation-free.
Goyal also informed the house that the allocation to MNREGA has been hiked to Rs 60,000 crore for 2019-20 fiscal. He said that the government has spent nearly Rs 1.7 lakh crore to supply food grains at cheaper price to poor in 2018-19 as against Rs 92,000 crore in 2013-14. Goyal pointed out that construction of rural roads tripled under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana scheme and electricity has been provided to 2.5 crore families who were without power in the 2014 while people are being able to avail of cheaper drugs provided through Jan Aushadi stores. Goyal also said that pension scheme for the unorganised sector workers will be implemented from this fiscal.
