Bhubaneswar: A fake builder was arrested from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly defrauding his son’s tutor of over Rs 20 lakh in the fake promise of giving her a land here in Bhubaneswar.
The accused has taken a total of Rs 23 lakh in instalments from his son’s tutor for a land, informed a police source. He has been identified as Parsuram Kandi, a resident of the Ninth Empire Apartment at BJB Nagar locality in the Capital city.
A special team of Badagada Police arrested the builder from Mohammad Nagar area in Uttar Pradesh and brought him on transit remand after producing him before a local court there.
It is pertinent to mention, the complainant Madhusmita Mishra was teaching Kandi’s son as a tutor. Kandi introduced himself as a builder and persuaded her to buy a land through him.
Madhusmita had filed a complaint against Kandi in July this year because he did not deliver her a land on time and also refund her money. Fearing arrest, Kandi had fled Bhubaneswar to Uttar Pradesh.
Reportedly, the accused was increasing his profits by investing the defrauded funds in the stock market. Several fraud cases have been filed against him in various police stations.
