Bhadrak: An elderly woman died a lady teacher sustained injuries after being attacked by a stray bull near Happyhome School at Charampa in Bhadrak district Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Shantilata Panda, 75, and the injured lady as SaiPrasanna Das, 48, a teacher at Pallishree High school, Kodabaruan. Both are from Patharaadi Sahi in the locality.
Sources said the stray bull attacked Shantilata and thrashed her on the ground while she was plucking flowers. The bull gored the elderly woman repeatedly and trampled her, leading to her death on the spot.
Similarly, the bull attacked SaiPrasanna while she was going to the temple. Locals rescued her and rushed her to the district headquarters hospital, Bhadrak. Notably, Saiprasanna is the sister of Bhadrak district Congress president Ashok Das. Informed, Bhadrak rural police reached the spot and made an announcement through Mike not to step out.
Later, a fire brigade team reached the spot and captured the bull with the help of locals. Police sent Shantilata’s body to the DHH for post-mortem.
