Bus catches fire at Baramunda terminus, disaster averted

Bhubaneswar: It could have been a major disaster but luckily it did not happen and was averted after a private bus caught fire at Baramunda bus terminus in the city, Wednesday. However as there were people inside the bus, there were no casualties and injuries.

According to sources, the bus called ‘Chakadola’ was parked at the bus depot when it caught fire. Flames soon engulfed the entire vehicle and it was reduces to ashes in a few minutes. The bus plies on the Kalahandi-Bhubaneswar route.

The mishap triggered widespread panic among the people present at the bus terminus. Many fled the spot immediately as the flames leapt into the air. Drivers of other buses were seen taking away their vehicles from the spot

On receiving information, two firefighting teams rushed to the spot to douse the flames. However, the cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. A police investigation is on to find out the exact cause why the fire broke out.
